Another late Top 10 Tuesday post! I could wait to post this next week but I’ve been planning this blog post for 2 days now and I finally finished my research! Today’s Top 10 Tuesday is “Books with Sprayed/Colored Edges”.
I’m not a cover-buyer but if I see a book with colored edges, I’m sold. I just love reading a book that has black, blue, or red edges and it just makes me giddy as I turn each page. So here are ten YA novels that have sprayed edges and I already own some of them because “aesthetics”.
To purchase the books mentioned below, just click the titles. Don’t worry, it’s free shipping for you!
Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
I actually took this photo and I’m just extremely happy that I bought this duology in a box set! I’ve heard of and seen these books a lot on Bookstagram and people were all talking about how awesome it is. I didn’t really bother reading the synopsis but I still bought the set because I fell in love at first sight with these awesome covers and black and red edges. I just finished Six of Crows and I’m still currently reading Crooked Kingdom and I can say that Leigh Bardugo is officially my most favorite author of 2017. I’ve read the Grisha Trilogy a few months back and I can’t wait to read more of her works.
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
Although I do own Strange the Dreamer in gorgeous UK hardcover, it did not have the blue edges that I really wanted. Sad. Still, the cover makes up for it because it’s absolutely stunning. I have very little idea of what this book is about but again, I’ve heard really good things about it so I’m very excited to read this in October.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone 20th Anniversary Edition by J.K. Rowling
I wish I could get all of them because they’re all so beautiful but alas, my wallet keeps complaining. I just got the hardcover of the Ravenclaw edition and it’s to die for! Whoever thought of these designs are surely geniuses.
Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo
This book is one of the most anticipated reads of September and I honestly understand the hype because Leigh Bardugo is such a genius writer and I’ve come to love all her stories especially the characters so I know this book will not disappoint. I’m definitely getting the paperback copy of this. Although the hardcover is gorgeous, I think I’m more drawn to the paperback because SPRAYED EDGES IS LIFE. Also, I’m a sucker for superheroes so watch me get all these books in the series.
Nevernight and Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff
These books have been on a constant hype ever since Nevernight was published. I have no idea what this book is about except that I love both UK and US covers especially the special edition hardcovers where you can have the sprayed edges. They will definitely end up in my bookshelf someday.
An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
I’ve heard so many things about this series that I felt like I really need to catch up because literally, everyone’s talking about it. This cover with the sprayed edges is stunning! I don’t know if this is still available though because it’s a special edition and the third book has a new cover design and it’s not available in the old design which is such a bummer. They could’ve just published a new edition but still released the third book in the old ones because not everyone is rich and can buy the whole series again if they want their covers to match. Oh well, I think I’ll just get the paperbacks. The old covers are more stunning though.
One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus
YESSSS I HAVE THIS BOOK! I love both the hardcover and the paperback but I got the paperback one because, YES, SPRAYED EDGES. I’m so excited to start reading this book! I still have so many books in my TBR that I don’t know which book to read next. Maybe I need to take a break from all those YA fantasies and try this thriller first.
Wicked and Son of a Witch by Gregory Maguire
I’ve first heard of this as a musical. You know, that really popular musical and that iconic song Defying Gravity that I keep on singing again and again. I know the characters Glinda and Elphaba (because of the musical) and I know that this is a retelling of The Wizard of Oz and I almost bought this series in our local bookstore. When I checked Goodreads, however, the reviews were not so great so I decided not to buy it. But I can’t deny that these paperbacks are really awesome to look at.
Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer
Ahhh Twilight. This is when my love for YA books began and I didn’t even realize it then. I have a set of these when I was in high school but only Twilight was left with me. When I do settle down in the future and have my own library, I’m definitely getting these editions because this series will always hold a special place in my heart no matter how problematic these books can be. These are utterly stunning.
Red Sister by Mark Lawrence
TBH, I was just researching about books with colored edges and came across this photo on Google. Red Sister is the first book of the Book of the Ancestor series and after reading the synopsis, it’s pretty action-packed. If I can get a hold of this edition I would be extremely happy. Look at that black-edged beauty with a stunning cover!
Hope you guys enjoyed my Top 10 Tuesday post (it’s already Thursday 12:00AM right now and Wednesday in some countries so forgive the lateness). See you in the next post!
Always,
