Hey nerds! If you guys don’t know yet, I’m a die-hard Potterhead (Half-Blood of course, because I’m still on my way to finishing the books) so when I came across this tag I knew I had to do it. I’m tagging everyone who is reading this to do it as well, Potterhead or not.
I saw this tag over at An Average Life (who is currently hosting a Harry Potter giveaway by the way) but it was created by Kimberlyfaye Reads and BookNerd Betsy (unfortunately I couldn’t get a hold of her blog) so you should check them out.
If you are interested in purchasing the books mentioned below for free shipping worldwide, feel free to click the titles. Buckle up, because this is quite an extensive list.
1. AN UPCOMING RELEASE YOU WISH YOU COULD GET YOUR HANDS ON RIGHT NOW.
I’m definitely excited to have Renegades by Marissa Meyer because I read her other book Heartless and it was such an awesome experience for me. I love her writing and this upcoming book sounds pretty exciting!
2. FAVORITE SERIES STARTER.
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo definitely got me hooked. Although this is really just a duology, it made me want to proceed to Crooked Kingdom as soon as I finished the first book. The world-building was so good and I fell in love with all the characters instantly.
3. A BOOK THAT GAVE YOU ALL THE WARM FUZZIES.
I’ve mentioned Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch so much in my other book tag posts. Even by just looking at the title, one could already feel warm fuzzies. Now open the pages and experience a wonderful adventure filled with love for family and friends in Italy. There’s so much more as you flip through this wonderful contemporary.
4. A BOOK THAT MADE YOU UGLY CRY.
I read Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell ages ago when I was still very young and I remember bawling like a baby. I’ve forgotten most of what happened in the story that I felt a reread is necessary. I ordered it in Book Depository a month ago and it’s on its way here. It’s gonna be in my December TBR and you guys should definitely get this book too.
5. BOOKISH HERO OR HEROINE YOU WANT AROUND TO PROTECT YOU IN REAL LIFE.
HERMIONE FREAKIN GRANGER in the Harry Potter series would be my ultimate protector. She’s just the brightest witch of her age and when we’re not trying to save our butts off, we’d hang out in the library and read and have book talks over tea/hot chocolate. Talk about protector goals.
6. A BOOK YOU INTENTIONALLY SPOILED FOR YOURSELF.
Well, I watched all the Harry Potter films before reading the books first so that’s probably me intentionally spoiling myself. Biggest regret of my life, though. I would’ve enjoyed reading the books first. Don’t make the same mistake, kids.
7. A BOOK YOU WISH YOU COULD MAKE EVERYONE READ BECAUSE YOU LOVED IT SO MUCH.
I’m still surprised that there are still some people who haven’t read (and even watched!) the Harry Potter series like seriously, what are you guys doing??? It’s the best thing ever and you’re totally missing out! Even if you have watched the movies already, reading the books is an entirely new experience and there are so many things explained in the books more and the dialogues are more hilarious. Go get your Harry Potter set now. Here lemme help you. Click this link. You’re welcome.
8. A BOOK OR SERIES YOU WISH NEVER ENDED.
Honestly, this entire post seems like a Harry Potter appreciation post. But this is the only series that I wish would go on forever. There are so many things that can be written about in the wizarding world. I’m thankful to have a Fantastic Beasts series but it would also be awesome to have books/films about the Marauders and the next generation witches and wizards (no, not the Cursed Child fanfiction crap). I’d empty my bank account for those.
9. A BOOK WITH AN UPLIFTING ENDING OR MESSAGE.
Anne of Green Gables is such a wholesome book which gives out lots of uplifting messages all throughout the series. It’s been and remains to be one of my childhood favorites. There are so many lessons on love, family, and friendship that you can pick up.
10. A BOOK YOU WISH YOU COULD FORGET YOU EVER READ.
I’m glad I didn’t purchase these as physical books because not only would they be a waste of time to read, they would also be a waste of my money. The Selection series by Kiera Cass is absolutely the worst series I have ever read in my entire existence. I was tricked by the good reviews this series has. Why people like to read about annoying characters who can’t make up their minds for s*** appalls me.
11. AN AUTHOR WHOSE BOOKS ALWAYS GET YOU OUT OF A SLUMP.
Nobody need ask. Of course, it’s J.K. “Queen” Rowling. Even though the last 4 books of the series are huge, they don’t feel intimidating at all. In fact, I always look forward to opening the pages of any Harry Potter book because I know I’ll get immersed in the world in no time.
12. A SWOON-WORTHY HERO OR HEROINE.
Nikolai Lantsov from the Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo is so swoon-worthy that he gets his own duology in 2019. Our prayers have been answered.
13. A BOOK THAT CAUSED YOU TO STOP DOING ALL OTHER THINGS UNTIL YOU FINISHED IT.
Technically, I was planning to sleep when I started reading Geekerella by Ashley Poston so I didn’t actually have to do other things. I started reading it at 12AM and I got so engrossed with the book that I ended at 4:30AM (I go to work at 8:00) so basically, I gave up my sleep but NO REGRETS because that was a really good book and I enjoyed the story a lot!
14. A BOOK THAT WAS PAINFUL TO READ (FOR WHATEVER REASON) OR BROKE YOU.
Caraval by Stephanie Garber was very painful to read. I hated the main character and her sister and the entire world-building was so confusing. Every plot twist seemed irrelevant and I struggled so much in the entire reading experience. This was a really disappointing book that I gave it 1 star.
15. A BOOK THAT HAD YOU LAUGHING OUT LOUD.
My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows is one of the most hilarious books I’ve read this year. I’m so glad I picked it up because I needed some light reading and this was so entertaining that I read it in one sitting! If you need to take a break from all the heavy fantasy books, this is a perfect choice.
16. A BOOK THAT MADE YOU WANT TO SEND IT (OR YOUR EREADER) FLYING.
The whole Selection series by Kiera Cass is horrible but The Elite is the worst of them all. I don’t understand how this book came to existence because this is literally just America trying to choose between Aspen and Maxon over and over and over again. I pity the trees that were cut down to provide as pages for this god-awful book. I read this on my phone and I was almost tempted to throw my Samsung Note 5 on the floor but I paid so much for it that I had to control myself.
17. BOOKISH WORLD YOU WISH YOU COULD VISIT.
Hogwarts. I’m still waiting for my letter tbh.
19. A CHARACTER DEATH THAT DESTROYED YOU.
Here’s a message to J.K. Rowling whom I love so much but whom I also wanna scream at sometimes:
Honestly, this would be better than all those character deaths.
18. A BOOK WITH A SHOCKING TWIST OR ENDING.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has one of the biggest plot twists I’ve encountered.
20. BEST SERIES CONCLUSION.
Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo has one of the most satisfying endings ever. The climax was just amazing and mind-blowing and I love how it ended on a bittersweet note. Seriously, if you haven’t read this yet, you’re missing out on awesome characters and intense plot-building.
It’s been fun writing this post! You guys should do it too! I’m automatically tagging everyone who read this.
